Introducing the SAFE Society
Ethiopia Chapter
Established in May 2026, the Ethiopia Chapter is the first international chapter of The SAFE Society (Science for One Health). It champions science-based approaches to agriculture, food security, energy, and environmental health across Ethiopia — connecting researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and communities who share a vision of thriving, resilient ecosystems and populations.
Operating under the guidance of the central SAFE Society organization, the chapter coordinates collaborations, outreach, and membership development throughout the country.

Prof. Yalemtsehay Mekonnen
Prof. Yalemtsehay Mekonnen leads the SAFE Society Ethiopia Chapter, guiding its academic and professional collaborations, scientific and educational outreach, and the development of local membership and partnerships across Ethiopia.
Her appointment reflects a shared commitment to advancing Science for One Health, sustainability, agriculture, food security, environmental protection, and global scientific cooperation.
