SAFE Society brings together scientists, researchers, professionals, students, institutions and communities working across Agriculture, Food Security, Sustainable Energy and One Health.
SAFE Chapters extend this mission at the local, regional and national level by creating platforms for scientific collaboration, education, networking, professional development and community engagement.
Through our chapters, SAFE aims to strengthen links between science, institutions, professionals and society.
Why Establish a Chapter?
SAFE Chapters provide opportunities for members to develop active scientific communities and connect their local initiatives with the wider SAFE international network.
Types of SAFE Chapters
SAFE Society may recognize different types of chapters according to the needs of its members and the scientific community.
National Chapter
Represents and coordinates SAFE activities within a country and helps connect members, institutions and regional scientific communities at the national level.
Regional Chapter
Brings together members within a defined state, province, region or geographical area to support local scientific activities, collaboration and outreach.
Institutional Chapter
Established within a university, research institute, hospital, professional institution or other recognized organization.
Student Chapter
Established within a recognized university or higher-education institution to promote student leadership, scientific engagement, mentoring, networking and professional development.
Who Can Establish a Chapter?
Applications may be submitted by groups associated with:
- Universities and colleges.
- Research institutes.
- Hospitals and healthcare institutions.
- Scientific and professional organizations.
- Government and public institutions.
- Nonprofit organizations.
- Industry and professional networks.
- Groups of researchers, professionals or students with shared scientific interests.
Areas of Activity
SAFE Chapters are encouraged to develop activities relevant to their members and communities.

Founding Requirements
Applicants wishing to establish a SAFE Chapter should:
- Form a founding group of interested members.
- Identify the proposed chapter type and geographical or institutional scope.
- Nominate an initial chapter leadership team.
- Define the objectives of the proposed chapter.
- Outline the main activities planned for the first year.
- Agree to follow SAFE Society policies, ethical principles and branding guidelines.
- Maintain regular communication with SAFE Society.
Chapter Leadership
The leadership structure may vary according to the size and type of chapter.
A chapter may include:
- President.
- Vice President.
- Secretary.
- Treasurer.
- Membership or Outreach Coordinator.
- Student Coordinator, where appropriate.
Additional positions or committees may be established according to local needs and the approved chapter structure.
Chapter Responsibilities
Every recognized SAFE Chapter is expected to:
- Uphold the mission and reputation of SAFE Society.
- Promote scientific integrity, professionalism and inclusiveness.
- Maintain an active leadership structure.
- Organize meaningful scientific or professional activities.
- Maintain basic records of chapter activities.
- Inform SAFE Society of major activities and leadership changes.
- Follow approved branding and communication guidelines.
- Comply with applicable institutional and local requirements.
Chapter Recognition
Official chapter recognition does not independently authorize a chapter to enter into contracts, make legal or financial commitments, or represent SAFE Society in legal or contractual matters unless specifically authorized in writing.
How to Start a Chapter
Bring together researchers, professionals, students or institutions interested in establishing the chapter.
Identify whether the proposed chapter will be National, Regional, Institutional or Student.
Nominate the individuals who will coordinate and lead the chapter during its establishment.
Prepare a brief description of the chapter, its objectives, proposed activities and expected contribution to the SAFE scientific community.
Complete the Start a Chapter Application and provide the requested information.
SAFE Society will review the application and may contact applicants for additional information or clarification.
Successful applicants will receive confirmation of chapter recognition together with guidance on chapter identity, activities and communication with SAFE Society.

- Country.
- State, province or region, where applicable.
- City.
- Institution or organization, where applicable.
- Proposed Chapter President.
- Contact email.
- Proposed chapter officers.
- Founding members.
- Brief chapter description.
- Chapter objectives.
- Proposed first-year activities.
- Institutional or organizational affiliation, if applicable.
Chapter Naming
To maintain a clear international identity, approved chapters will normally follow a standard naming structure:
