Mission
Scientists collaborating on sustainability, renewable energy and environmental research

Advancing Science. Connecting People. Creating a Sustainable Future.

The SAFE Society brings together scientists, researchers, professionals and institutions to advance knowledge and collaboration across Agriculture, Food Security, Sustainable Energy and One Health.

Our Mission

The SAFE Society’s fundamental purpose is to advance, promote and support excellence in science and to encourage the development and responsible application of scientific knowledge in Agriculture, Food Security, Sustainable Energy and One Health for the benefit of people, communities and the planet.

Our Purpose

Scientific research, innovation and education play an essential role in addressing major global challenges, including food insecurity, climate change, environmental degradation, sustainable resource management, energy transitions and emerging threats to human, animal, plant and environmental health.

The SAFE Society works to connect researchers, institutions, professionals and communities so that scientific knowledge can be exchanged, strengthened and translated into meaningful solutions for society.

The SAFE Society has several interconnected roles that are central to fulfilling its mission:

Scientific Society

Connecting scientists across disciplines and borders

As an international scientific society, SAFE brings together researchers, academics, students, professionals and institutions from different disciplines and regions of the world.

The Society promotes scientific excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, professional networking and opportunities for scientists at all stages of their careers.

SAFE seeks to create an active scientific community in which members can exchange knowledge, establish collaborations, contribute to scientific activities and participate in the continuing development of the Society.

Research, Education and Publishing

Advancing and sharing scientific knowledge

SAFE advances scientific knowledge through research collaboration, conferences, workshops, webinars, training programmes and scholarly publishing.

Through its scientific activities and the SAFE Journal of One Health, the Society promotes research integrity, interdisciplinary scholarship, capacity building and the responsible dissemination of scientific evidence.

Particular attention is given to supporting students and early-career researchers through education, mentoring, professional development and opportunities to participate in international scientific networks.

International Collaboration

Building bridges between local expertise and global science

Many scientific and societal challenges extend beyond national and disciplinary boundaries.

SAFE therefore develops partnerships with universities, research institutes, scientific societies, international organisations, government institutions, professional associations, nonprofit organisations, industry and other partners whose activities complement the Society's mission.

Through international partnerships and regional and national chapters, SAFE aims to connect local scientific communities with global networks and create opportunities for meaningful scientific cooperation.

Science for Society

Connecting scientific evidence with meaningful action

SAFE believes that scientific knowledge has its greatest value when it contributes to better understanding, informed decisions and positive outcomes for society.

The Society encourages constructive dialogue between scientists, policymakers, professionals, industry and communities in areas including agriculture, food security, sustainable energy, environmental sustainability, climate resilience and One Health.

SAFE seeks to help scientific evidence reach the people and institutions that can use it to address real-world challenges and support sustainable development.
