Health has never really been separate
For most of modern history, medicine treated people, veterinary science treated animals, and ecology treated ecosystems — three disciplines working in three different rooms. But the diseases, food systems, and climate pressures the world faces today don't respect those walls.
One Health is the recognition that these fields were never really separate at all. It is a collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach that unites physicians, veterinarians, ecologists, agricultural scientists, and policymakers around a single truth: the wellbeing of people depends on the wellbeing of animals and the environment they share.
Human health, animal health, and environmental health are deeply interconnected — and can no longer be addressed in isolation.
